Facial Cleansing, Exfoliating, Moisturing, and Sunscreen

Cleansing your face is an act of kindness to yourself. It's okay to be kind to yourself. Don't let anyone tell you different. The simple act of washing ones face comes in many different forms. It can be as simple as a glycerin soap with luke warm water to intricately formulated steps and regimes. There are so many products to choose from, it's finding what works for you. If you're a beginner, I suggest keeping it simple to start. It's easier to get a routine underway if you don't overwhelm yourself with too many products. As you become more familiar with cleansers, toners, moisturizers and such you can broaden your daily routine. Second, moisturizing your face is so valuable. Yes, know your skin type and any problem areas like acne. Yes, see a dermatologist if acne can not be kept under control with over the counter products. Years ago when I was a counter manager for a high end brand, a customer told me she used bag balm for her moisturizer, which farmers use on cows utters after milking. Now days you can use it for many purposes. But, it dawned on me then that although high end brands are amazing, just the act of moisturizing the skin will help to keep skin soft and youthful. Exfoliating is next on the list of to do's. Depending on your skin type a weekly exfoliant goes along way to get rid of old skin cells and keep skin more translucent and bright. It too comes in many different forms, from clay masks, to small granules used as a gentle rub, a peel formula that applies like thin paste, drys, and then you peel it off, even a moisture mask that helps to hydrate and loosens old skin cells. You don''t need to do them all, but choosing at least one method will suffice. No matter your budget or accessibility cleansing, moisturizing, and exfoliating your face is essential to help maintain a more polished, clean, fresh look. Doing these acts of kindness, will create a pattern of care that will benefit yourself inside and out.
